Here's Looking At You, Kid! Proenza Schouler's Photo-Print Dress

As always, prints are set to be a big thing for spring/summer 2013. However, instead of the unimaginative, flat, floral prints that we see year upon year, designers have decided to up their game and revolutionise our wardrobes with a wide range of new imagery.

Photo prints are a dime a dozen on the catwalk each season and are now on the verge of becoming (I hate to say it) actually quite dull. Despite this, Proenza Schouler, the New York based label created by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have completely turned this trend on its head. They understand that women want to stand out from the crowd when they wear a designer dress and have taken this thought to a whole new level, thus creating my favourite spring print.

Inspired by Tumblr and the random way we come across images in our day to day lives, the duo celebrate the endless hours of happiness the digital age has given us. Instead of reproducing images straight onto fabric,   Proenza Schouler have cut them on the bias into strips and sewn them diagonally across the bodice creating abstract, sometimes distorted patterns. Other garments from the collection, like the one above, have been embellished with silver grommets along the hem which contrasts with the exotic coloured prints of the fabric.

Instead of standing out from the crowd, you can now also wear the crowd on your dress making you feel the centre of attention. Proenza Schouler certainly know how to make women across the globe feel special.
